Ballet open house to offer free classes

Brass City Ballet (BCB) will kick off its 30th anniversary season with an open house Saturday, Aug. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1255 Middlebury Road in Middlebury. The open house comes at the conclusion of a busy summer of Princess Camp for ages 3 to 9 and Summer Dance 2015 Intensive for preteens and teens.

Free classes will be offered at the open house for children 3 and older. Classes are: Dance Discovery for ages 3 to 5 (9:45 to 10:15 a.m.), Ballet 1 and 2 for ages 6 to 8 (10:30 to 11 a.m.) and ages 8 to 11 (11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.), Jazz/Hip-Hop for ages 5 to 10 (11:15 to 11:45 a.m.) and Intermediate Ballet for ages 11 and older (12:30 to 2 p.m.). Brass City Ballet is a nonprofit dance organization based in Middlebury. Its mission is to provide the art, technique and joy of dance through its school, performing company and community outreach projects. Its state-of-the-art studios offer opportunities to children and adults to acquire a knowledgeable and working understanding of dance, whether it be for fun, exercise or a professional career.
