Avid golfer with a heart of gold 

Irving B. Nixon Jr., 68, of Naugatuck, Conn., passed away suddenly on May 2, 2015. Irving was born in Richmond, Va., Aug. 17, 1946, the son of the late Irving Sr. and Lillian Nixon of Naugatuck.

Irv was a loving father, grandfather and friend. Irv’s lifetime passion was for the game of golf, and throughout his 55-year golf career he had many accomplishments, some of which included 1964 State Schoolboy Champion, 1963 State Junior Champion, and Club Champion at Laconia Country Club in Laconia, N.H. He often referred to his days with the “boys from Laconia” as his best. Irv had 11 career “aces” including one on a par-4 at the age of 62. Also, he held two course records in his lifetime.

Irv traveled the world many times over, enjoying every day of life. Irv was a huge Elvis Presley fan and attended 11 concerts. Irv had a heart of gold and will be missed by his many friends and family. If Irv didn’t make you smile at least once, there must have been something wrong with you.

Irving is survived by two sons, Bryan C. Nixon, PGA and his wife, Maureen, of Naugatuck and Chad Nixon of Hastings, Mich., and two daughters, Jacquelyn “Jackson” Tribanas and her husband, Joe, of Naugatuck and Frances Nixon-Simon of Middlebury. He also is survived by two sisters, Madeline Nixon of Naugatuck and Teena Nixon of New Preston; his wife, Andrea Bonaldi Nixon; his five grandchildren: Joey and Joshua Tribanas and Kyle, Tyler and Elizabeth Nixon all of Naugatuck; and one niece, Bianca Davis of Virginia.
