St. Patrick’s Day dance, corned beef dinner

Middlebury will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a dance Saturday, March 14, and a corned beef dinner Tuesday, March 17. The dance, sponsored by the Middlebury Junior Women’s Club, will be held from 7:30 to 11 p.m. at the Middlebury Fire House on Tucker Hill Road. Proceeds from the $20-per-person tickets will benefit a scholarship for a Middlebury student graduating from Pomperaug High School.

corned beef dinnerThis year’s annual St. Patrick’s Day corned beef dinner wasn’t going to happen because the Knights of Columbus decided not to have the event. Middlebury Social Services Director, JoAnn Cappelletti, wasn’t willing to say “good-bye” to a long-standing tradition, so she enlisted a group of friends to be sure there will be plenty of corned beef and fixings to go around. Proceeds will benefit the Middlebury Food and Fuel Bank.

Dinners will be available for eat-in or takeout Tuesday, March 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Shepardson Community Center. Tickets at $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and younger than 10 will be available at the door. Children under 6 eat free.
