On Thursday, September 17, Connecticut state officials said on Wednesday, September 16, at 8:30 p.m. there were 55,386 COVID-19 cases in the state. This is an increase of 220 cases since Tuesday, September 15. The total number of cases in Middlebury remained at 59.

On Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., 75 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 5 patients, and deaths numbered 4,488, an increase of 1 death.

Cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 53 confirmed and 6 probable, Naugatuck – 434 confirmed and 17 probable, Oxford – 91 confirmed and 4 probable, Southbury – 210 confirmed and 6 probable, Woodbury – 60 confirmed and 2 probable, Watertown – 166 confirmed and 9 probable, and Waterbury – 2,263 confirmed and 102 probable.
