At 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Connecticut state officials said there were 3,824 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state as of 12 p.m. Thursday, April 2. This is an increase of 267 cases over the 3,557 the day before at 1:30 p.m. The number of confirmed cases in Middlebury increased to 8.

The groups with the largest number of cases were ages 50 – 59 (810 cases) followed by ages 40 – 49 (664 cases) and ages 60 – 69 (607 cases).

On a graph showing how many people per 100,000 in each age group are testing positive, the three highest rates of positive tests were ages 80 and older (158 cases per 100,000), ages 50 – 59 (153 cases per 100,000), and ages 40 – 49 (151 cases per 100,000).

The report said a state public health lab tested 2,260 patients, and 453, or 20%, of those tested positive. Statewide, more than 18,300 tests have been reported.

On Thursday, April 2, 827 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, and 112 had died.

Hospitalization numbers were: Fairfield County had 381 (+22) patients, New Haven County had 274 (+23) patients, and Hartford County had 136 (+10) patients. Other counties had 11 or fewer patients.

174 cases were pending address validation.
