Middlebury Police who arrested Joseph Ferrari, 33, in February allege he was in possession of four grams of cocaine and nine grams of ecstasy. Following the arrest, police started an investigation that led to a home in Waterbury.

Police obtained a search-and-seizure warrant and then conducted a search of the third-floor apartment at 100 Kelsey Street in Waterbury. Ferrari shares that apartment with his girlfriend, Megan Bernacki, 25.

Police allege the two were packaging illegal drugs at that location and delivering them to customers in Middlebury. Police discovered the beginnings of a marijuana grow on the back porch, scales, heat-sealed bags and a safe.

After Ferrari gave the police the combination to the safe, they discovered approximately two pounds of marijuana, approximately 10 grams of ecstasy and 50 Xanax pills in the safe.

Ferrari and Bernacki were charged with operating a drug factory, possession of narcotics in a school zone, and possession of narcotics with intent to sell. Ferrari was held on $150,000 bond, and Bernacki was held on bonds totaling $60,000 for an appearance in Waterbury Court.
