Middlebury Police Chief Fran Dabbo reported that Monday, Jan. 16, at approximately 11 p.m., officers from the Middlebury and Watertown Police Departments responded to a complaint that an assault occurred in a wooded area in the vicinity of New Wood Road in Watertown. When officers arrived, a male victim was already in an ambulance and the suspect was reportedly still in the wooded area. The suspect was identified as Jennifer Postegate, 48, of Heritage Village in Southbury.

The officers, along with the Middlebury K-9, Jay, walked through the wooded area until they arrived at a shack where they encountered Postegate. The officers informed Postegate of the complaint that was made against her. She told police she hit the victim and bit his ear during an argument.

Postegate was placed under arrest and transported to Middlebury Police Headquarters, where she was charged with third-degree assault. She was held on a $500 bond for an appearance in the Waterbury Court Tuesday morning.
