Beloved wife, mother and grandmother

GRANT JEANMrs. Jean M. (Martinelli) Grant, 80, of Middlebury, passed away peacefully Sunday June 28, 2015, at Waterbury Hospital with her husband Paul by her side. She was the loving wife of Paul F. Grant.

Jean was born in West Hartford Sept. 13, 1934, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Carmela (Salerno) Martinelli. She was a graduate of Wilby High School. She was employed by St. Mary’s Hospital’s Medical Records for 24 years and later at The Nest Day Care in Middlebury until her retirement. She enjoyed long walks, making people smile and, of course, her Italian bread. She took great pleasure spending time with her family.

Besides her husband, Paul, of 54 years, she leaves two daughters, Wanda L. Grant of Middlebury and Leatrice J. Way and her husband, Mark Sr., of Oakville; three brothers, Nicholas Martinelli of Wolcott; Pasquale Martinelli and his wife, Eileen, of Sun City, Ariz., and Robert Martinelli and his wife, Ann, of Thomaston; a sister, Susan Kincaid of Oakville; three grandchildren, Nicole Paolino of Waterbury, Sabrina Brundage of Manhattan, N.Y., and Mark Way Jr. of Waterbury and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Kotsaftis and Marie Bartush.

Her funeral will be Thursday, July 2, at 9 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home at 430 Chase Parkway in Waterbury to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
