Middlebury police to provide additional coverage

Middlebury Police Chief James Viadero said the Middlebury Police Department will be instituting additional patrols tonight, Thursday, Oct. 30, (traditionally know as Mischief Night ) and Friday, Oct. 31, (Halloween Night). The intent is to insure public safety for those wishing to enjoy Halloween Night by monitoring traffic safety and areas that experience a high number of trick or treaters. On Oct. 30, officers will be visible in areas to prevent mischief to public property and homes on the eve prior to Halloween.

Residents and citizens are urged to contact the Police Department if they observe any behavior that would be disruptive to the holiday event. Officers also will be present at the Middlebury Parks’ Department Trick or Trick event at Memorial Middle School Saturday, Nov. 1.
