#Middlebury #Budget #TaxIncentive

The Town of Middlebury will hold two public meetings the first week in April, a special town meeting on Monday, April 5, and a budget hearing on Tuesday, April 6. Both meetings are hybrid meetings being offered in person and via Zoom. However, the special town meeting will be held in the Town Hall Conference Room, which has very limited capacity.

The special town meeting Monday, April 5, 2021, at 6 p.m. will be held via Zoom and in the Town Hall Conference Room at 1212 Whittemore Road in Middlebury. Find Zoom information on the town website, middlebury-ct.org. Three items will be voted on. The items are:

  1. To vote to approve the Tax Incentive Program Application of Metro Realty for a medical office complex at 1685 Straits Turnpike, Middlebury, CT; and
  2. To vote to approve the Tax Incentive Program Application of Pomeroy Enterprises, LLC for participation in Middlebury’s Tax Incentive Program; and
  3. To vote to approve the transfer of land for proposed roads and open space back to Pilot’s Mall, LLC., owned by the Town of Middlebury
The Economic Development Commission reviewed and approved the Metro Realty application Tuesday December 22, 2020, with the condition the applicant purchase or lease the property at 1685 Straits Turnpike prior to the Special Town Meeting.

The Commission reviewed and approved the Pomeroy Enterprises, LLC application Tuesday July 23, 2019.

The Pilot’s Mall transfer is a commercial project approved approximately 20 years ago. Pilot’s Mall is interested in terminating its subdivision. The Town of Middlebury owns the open space that cuts their property in half and also owns the proposed roads (two separate deeds). This is to approve the planning referral, returning the land back to Pilot’s Mall, LLC.
