Middlebury Police Chief Fran Dabbo reported that Middlebury police officers responded to Memorial Middle School Monday, Feb. 12,  regarding an incident between a para-educator, Chad Ouellette, 19, of Naugatuck, and a student. Ouellette was removed from the school by police. He was subsequently arrested and charged with risk of injury to a child.

Ouellette’s employment with Regional School District 15 was immediately terminated by school officials. Ouellette is scheduled to appear in the Waterbury Court later this month.

Because the investigation is ongoing and involves a minor, no further details are available at this time.

UPDATE at 4:15 p.m. – Ouellette’s court date is Wednesday, Feb 21. He has been released on a $10,000 non-surety bond.

UPDATE 2/14 – Correct spelling of Ouellette’s name and add “to a child” to “risk of injury.”
