Loving wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law and aunt

Mrs. Diane M. (Goudreau) O’Connell, 85, formerly a long-time resident of Edgewood Road in Oakville, died peacefully Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017 at Regal Care at Waterbury with her beloved husband by her side. She was the loving wife of Jeremiah A. “Jerry” O’Connell.

Diane was born in Waterbury July 25, 1932, a daughter of the late George and Bertha (Violet) Goudreau. She worked at Timex Corporation for 34 years and Bendix Aero Space for 10 years until her retirement in 1992. She was very family oriented and loved the close relationship shared with her siblings and all the frequent family gatherings with them. She was a proud mother and wife and especially cherished her close relationships with her son and husband. She loved animals especially her Golden Retriever, Sam, who passed away several weeks ago at the age of 11.

Besides her husband of 56 years, she leaves her son, Mark J. O’Connell of Middlebury; a brother, Donald Goudreau and his wife, Nancy, of Naugatuck; two sisters, Jacqueline Cutler of Waterbury and Judy Belval, who was also her best friend, and her husband, George, of Oakville; two brothers-in-law, Louis Tangney of Oakville and John O’Connell of Middlebury; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Clarence Goudreau and his wife, Rena; a sister, Joyce Tangney; two brothers-in-law, Larry O’Connell and his wife, Betty; and Alfred Cutler; three sisters-in-law, Kathleen Collins and her husband, Connie; Mary Holland and her husband, John; and Marion O’Connell.

Diane’s family would like to sincerely thank the entire staff at Regal Care of Waterbury for the exceptional care and comfort given to Diane during her stay.

The funeral is private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home at 430 Chase Parkway Waterbury has been entrusted with the arrangements.
