SadlowskidodgeMatthew Sadlowski, 77, of Middlebury, husband of Virginia (Majewska) Sadlowski, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at St. Mary’s Hospital VITAS Unit surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Sadlowski was born Dec. 18, 1938, in Krsza, Poland, son of the late Edmont and Czestawa (Stahelek) Sadlowski. A longtime Middlebury resident, he retired from Risdon Manufacturing after 42 years of service. Matthew was a communicant of St. Hedwig Church. He enjoyed fishing and ice fishing, vegetable gardening, and especially spending time with his family.

Besides his wife of 57 years, he leaves his daughters, Eugenia Thomas and her partner, John O’Neil, of Bethel; Janina Lyons and her husband, Thomas, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Karen Meixner and her husband, Uly, of Marshfield, Mass.; his sister, Helen Sadlowska Bystry of Poland; his granddaughter, Alexis Spence and her husband, Randy, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and his great-granddaughter, Melissa Spence.

His funeral will be Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at 9:15 a.m. from the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home at 240 N. Main St. in Naugatuck to St. Hedwig Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
