Crews reported that extreme weather conditions were slowing down their efforts and they expected to have the work completed by this afternoon.

Several local business were utilizing generators to remain open, stating that the extreme cold and loss of power had hampered their business operations. Drivers are reminded to exercise caution in weather conditions that are being experienced. Black ice and diminished sight lines are making driving extremely hazardous.

The vehicle, a 2001 Subaru Legacy owned by the operator, sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene by Karas Auto of Waterbury. Police did not identify the operator.
